Darby’s Dancers is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a performing arts opportunity to youth with special needs at no cost to their parents. This program was founded by Patrick and Valerie Jones of Huntsville, Alabama in memory of their daughter, Darby Emma Jones (1999-2013). For more information, please visit Darby's Dancers National Website.
Showtime Dance Academy provides a place and program for every dancer who walks through our door. Darby’s Dancers supports our mission of inclusion by providing dance classes for children with physical or developmental disabilities such as Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) , cerebral palsy, and other developmental delays (including those requiring use of a wheelchair). The goal of this program is to enrich the lives of these children through performing arts participation;
providing an opportunity to increase physical and emotional strength, confidence, coordination, mentorship, and friendships in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
Showtime Dance Academy’s Darby’s Dancers program also provides teens in our community the opportunity to be a Youth Mentor, by providing one-on-one assistance, support, and friendship to a dancer with special needs throughout the year.
Through the charitable contributions of the Dancers of Showtime Contemporary Ballet, youth mentors, local businesses, and individuals in our community, SDA’s Darby’s Dancers Program will provide complimentary weekly dance classes, outside activities, dance uniforms/costumes, and performance opportunities to youth and teens with special needs.
